BFF

BFF

This one is not finished yet.  I need to add the specular highlights. I tried working with thicker paint so I am going to let it dry a bit before I add them.

I have finally gotten back to painting, April has been a slim month as far as my art work goes.

I did three sketches of these peppers and chose the one I liked the best. My plan was to paint three different versions from different view points.  I also have lemons, cherries and pears lined up for their turn!

Today is the opening reception for the Pastel Society of NH member's show.  I hope my work looks good on the wall!

I will have two paintings in this show, both landscapes.  Stop by if you are in the area.

Tulips

Tulips
5x7 colored pencil

These tulips welcomed me at the entrance to Holy Family Hospital.  I took a photo with my kindle and did this with prismacolor colored pencil.  I found the process very relaxing.

October Grasses

"October Grasses" 5x7 Gireault pastels (landscape 50)

I promised myself a set of Gireault Pastels if I got juried into the IAPS show at Vose Gallery in Boston.  I didn't get in so I bought a bigger set!  They arrived today and I tried them out on Art Spectrum colorfix - Sienna. The colors are wonderful and the texture just right.

I have heard that the first thing you should do with a new set is take them out of the box break them  into pieces 1/3 and 2/3.  I know I will enjoy putting these full sticks right back in the box.

I also bought a pad of Mi-Teintes Touch.  The surface seems similar to Art Spectrum Colorfix and the colors are wonderful.

Lemon Glow

Lemon Glow
6x6 oil on panel

Yellow is a difficult color.  The shadows look green and orange at the same time.

April is a busy time art-wise.  I delivered 3 paintings to the Paws and Claws fundraiser at Sullivan Framing.  The opening is the 10th. The Greater Salem Art Association Spring Fling Show is this week-end.  I entered "White Mountain Summer".  The Community Ed Show for NHIA is mid-month and delivery is the 12th for the Member's Show PSNH. I will enter "returning Loostrife" and "Morning Walk".

I finished this a week or so ago but decided to change the background.  I like it better now, what do you think?
