I love the way the light made the colors dance around . I especially liked painting the shadows.

Tranquility
I am working with pastels again. This is from one of my favorite spots - Plum Island MA. It is a nature preserve and has area after area of incredible beauty and lots of green-head flies!

Ratatouille - Zucchini
Today I finished my Ratatouille series. I included the blossom just for fun. Next week I am off to an abstract landscape workshop with Robert Carsten. I have already packed my pastels but I think I will bring along my oils too. I will add the link to Dailypaintworks as soon as I figure out how!

Not there yet
I have passed this scene every day to and from work for the last 15 years. I have tried to capture its beauty in paint and pastels for almost as long. I expect a break-through soon!

Rudbeckia with red zinnia
9x12 oil I did this one in class last week. It was fun looking for the lights and darks rather than the individual petals. The garden is full of black eyed susans and echinachea .

Plum Island study
We spent the day at Plum Island, MA dodging the green head flies and cooling off in the shallow waters of the State beach. I took a lot of photos of the marsh areas and did a few studies for a larger painting. This one is 5x7 oil. available on Dailypaintworks $100.00
I am also playing with my camera settings and experimenting with blog options. All of it fun!
This was the first study I did, also 5x7 I like the hill area. For my large painting 14x18 (large for me!) I will try to combine the best of these studies.

Cutter's field
Another local landscape - I love these sunlit fields. This one is oil on Masonite 5x7. I did a few others. In one I I turned the orientation to deepen the field.
This one is 6x6 and done on raymar panel.
Another 5x7 on Masonite. Which do you like the best?
