Pears

"Pears"

6x6 oil on panel
This went through several transitions as I worked through ideas. I wiped out two versions last night and started fresh this morning. I worked on lost  and found edges and softened some.

I have not decided whether I want to paint with classical realism or impressionistic brushwork, both styles appeal to me but I don't like being in the middle of the two.

I read a quote on Cathleen Rehfeld's blog attributed to Miles Davis "Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself." So I guess I will keep playing until my art work finds it's direction.

  2. I understand that you are unclear how you want your art to look. I do want to tell you, however (and maybe I have told you this before), that I can just about always tell when I see one of your paintings in my blog feed that it is yours, even before I see your name! I love these pears, as always...
