I've painted this several times and it is getting better but I'm not happy yet. I'm reading "Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting", "Mastering Composition" by Ian Roberts and "Brushwork Essentials" by Mark Christopher Weber.
I was going to paint over this one but I think I will save it for a comparison.
I like the way you created a path into the painting. I have the first two books you listed, do you like "Brushwork Essentials"?
ReplyDeleteYes but not as much as the first two. It helped me because I never thought about how I loaded my brush to get the stroke I wanted or how and when to thin my paint for the effects I wanted. Reading it once was probably enough though, it's not something I would re-read like the first two. I painted snow this evening and wiped out twice before I decided it was time for bed!
